IceDogs release 2022/23 schedule
The Niagara IceDogs open the 2022/23 Ontario Hockey League season in just over three months.
The IceDogs will begin their 15th season in St. Catharines at home Thursday, Sept. 29 versus the Mississauga Steelheads at 7 p.m.
Each team is set to play 68 games total with home and away games split evenly at 34. Unlike last season, the IceDogs will face off against every team in the league at least twice throughout the season.
The IceDogs will play the Steelheads, Barrie Colts, Erie Otters, OHL champion Hamilton Bulldogs, North Bay Battalion and Sudbury Wolves six times apiece while squaring off versus the Peterborough Petes, Kingston Frontenacs and Ottawa 67’s four times each. The remaining teams will play the IceDogs twice, once at home and once on the road.
There is still no news on the approval of a new ownership group. The IceDogs were sold, pending the approval of the Ontario Hockey League Board of Governors, to Darren DeDobbelaer May 17.
DeDobbelaer is listed as the president and general manager of the Brantford Bandits of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League and the Brantford 99ers of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League.
Ice cubes: IceDogs 2022 Priority Selection first-round pick Sam Dickinson and second-round pick Kevin He have both been named to Hockey Canada’s national under-17 development camp, set to take place July 10-16 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSports’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. Kevin He has signed with the IceDogs while Dickinson has yet to sign and has been skating with the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League.
