IceDogs move primary home day to Sunday
The Niagara IceDogs will be getting an earlier start for several of their home games this season.
The 2024/25 Ontario Hockey League regular season schedule has been released and it shows the IceDogs with a record 12 Sunday matinee home games starting at 2 p.m. The club only played five Sunday home games last season.
The IceDogs will open their season with three consecutive road games, beginning Friday, Sept, 27 at Ottawa. The IceDogs then battle the Frontenacs in Kingston on Sunday, Sept. 29, followed by a visit to Oshawa on Friday, Oct. 4 before opening their home campaign against Brampton on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m.
By day, Thursday is the next busiest day with eight games followed by seven on Friday, five on Saturday and two on Tuesday, including the traditional New Year’s Eve game versus the Peterborough Petes on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 6pm.
The Memorial Cup champion Saginaw Spirit make their lone visit to St. Catharines Thursday, Jan. 9 while the Memorial Cup runner-up London Knights are in town Saturday, March 1 for their only game at the Meridian Centre.
The schedule features a season high nine home games in the month of November.
